Really sorry to hear about the trouble that you have encountered. Going for a walk and worrying about him being attacked is just not right. Well done for trying to do all you can, have you had much joy from the RSPCA - surely they can warn the other owners. Photos look great xx he's cute!

Hi, the rspca have been really good. we had the cheif inspector at the meeting and he is working with the police to try to get the dog week organised. there are a lot of people who are afraid to come to the meetings as they think its all about these youngsters with staffs and to be honest that is not what we are about. any dog has the potential to attack. its not the youngsters with the staffs that are doing these attacks. it seems to be just individuals who have no control over there dogs or they think its good to see there dog be top dog. they think they are clever and hard because there dogs are not afraid and go on the attack. they are just silly little people who dont deserve the respect of there dogs. when ever we see someone with there dog off lead we ask them if they are aware of the attacks and if they say no we warn them. it probably scares people when we tell them about the attacks but i think its better they know so they can keep a closer eye on there own dogs. today there was a staff on our field with two young lads (and yes they were hoodies) and they were getting the dog to jump up on the tree and swing from a branch. the dog was barking and snarling as the lads were goading the dog. we stayed well away as the dog was not on lead. last week we had to lock our selves in the kids play area as a man with an akita let his dog off lead and said to us that his dog was a bitch and would be ok with my friends dog which is male but would attack my dog coz she's female.i said well get your dog on a lead then if you know it wil attack. stupid man. i said my dog wont bother with yours she just wants to play ball and he told me that his dog would chase my dog if bobbie went after her ball coz his dog would think she was running away from his dog. what an idiot. i told him that if hes dog attacked mine i would kill his dog. he laughed. i told him that i wasnt joking. i would hate to hit another dog but if it meant saving my own dog from harm i would have to do it. the people round here are so ignorant. they think having a big dog makes you bigger and better and that the dog can take anything on. well theres is always a dog bigger and better than yours. one day these people will relise it much better to have a sociable dog rather than one that everyone avoids. stupid stupid people.
bobbie is a female by the way

I hate irresponsible owners, diesel ( my GSD) is awful off his lead, he will run upto other dogs, run off etc as we found out when we first had him. He isn't nasty at all, just mischevious so we always keep him on his lead now just to be on the safe side.

It's people like you have mentioned that give these breeds a bad name, i can be out walking diesel on my own and i have people crossing the road when they see him coming or tutting at me because they think i can't control him, last year i couldn't so Ash always walked him but since he has had the snip and he is getting older he has calmed down so much so i feel 100% more confident taking him.

I don't see why i should be judged when all im doing is giving my dog the exercise he needs. It's not as though i let him go and bite people and other dogs

Hi, you made me laugh about the people crossing over the road to avoid you. when i walk bobbie down the high street it's like the parting of the seas. it used to bother me but now i just sort a chuckle to myself and think let them get on with it.
today we were over the field and a lady with a staff was there. we waited a while and the woman had her dog on a lead so my friend put her collie on the lead and i just threw the ball for bobbie. i asked if the dog was ok and she said yes she was only young and wanted to play. i managed to get my friend to let her boy off and they played ball. we walked the length of the field and then the woman let her staff off and they all just played with the balls. so now we can all  meet on the field without being afraid of each other.
my friend has just phoned to say that in one of the papers, (evening standard) i think they have reported that in october and blind woman was walking her lab dog through cricklewood station where it was attacked by pit bull type dog. the owner white male was kicking and punching his dog to get it off the lab. the lab has deep puncture wounds to his throat and chest. they have put a video of the attack on the internet to see if someone knows who the owner is as both dog and owner ran off after the attack.  8O
my God its getting worse. how will that poor dog be able to work again, and what about the woman. its bad enough to have your dog attacked but not being able to help it. the lab is still receiving vetenary treatment. i just hope the dog recovers. i really think we need some sort of licence for our dogs. also that all dogs have to be insured. i know this would be hard on people on benefits but if there was a fund to help them. i dont feel it would be right to stop people on benefits having a dog wether they have a lot of money or not. if you love animals and have little money you should still be able to afford a dog. i have had a few dogs during my life. if i did not have much money i made sure my kids and animals were all fed and if i had to go without to do that then thats the way it is. now i have bobbie but am remarried and my partner works so not on benefits so am lucky.
i cannot believe how these pit type dogs are allowed to breed. it should be compulsary to have the dogs neauterd at 6months. the little staffie this morning was not spayed and just had her second season and i asked the woman why she hadnt been spayed. she couldnt answer as the dog is her sisters. i told her the amount of unwanted staffies there are now. bobbie was done at 6months before her first season. too many dogs about to add more to the mix. yes i would have loved her to have had puppies but i would not have been able to sell them. i would have wanted home checks done on offers of homing them. and i think my standards for a good home would have been too much of a goal to reach so we had her spayed. all the dogs and cats i have had have been neauterd.
oh dear i didnt want to get into all that but after the call from my friend i am so annoyed. dogs are faithful loving creatures who bring you unconditianal love, why oh why do people abuse and misuse them. i cant get my head round it and saddens me that so many dogs are destroyed due to the idiots that own them. why cant we take these stupid people and put them to sleep and give the dogs a chance for a decent life.
sorry about the rant.
kind regards carol.

That must have been such a terrifying ordeal. I remember when I was walking Holly one morning in December of last year we were on a field behind a pub where I use to live. Suddenly this dog ran up to us out of the blue I knew there was a big problem when it approached.   There was no snarling, no barking, no noise, this dog just suddenly started attacking Holly. I remembered what the teacher said in the puppy training class and that was to make sure that you put your feet in between the two dogs because you will be protected by your shoes. I can remember the dog had my sleeve and his weight pulled me to the ground. But as I struggled to get to my feet this dog suddenly plunged his teeth into my arm, he did not draw blood as I had my coat on but it was scary and I tried not to scream. Holly was on the floor and I think the dog was a Rottweiler.

About two minutes later this guy turned up (obviously the owner) and I had a go at him and said he needed to control his dog better. He just looked at me, nothing else. I wondered what was going on. A bit dazzed I walked home with Holly.

In terms of what you were saying about a licence I totally agree. I think you do need something to show that you are competent and that your dog will not cause any harm to others. Where about in London do you live / walk? Maybe the dogs are used to fight as when we use to live in Milton Keynes there was a ring who use to do this sort of thing and I always had to keep Holly on the lead.

Hi, how awful for you and holly. i dont know how i would have coped with being attacked let alone my dog. i would be horrified if bobbie did that to a dog and its owner. these people do not have a brain cell between them.
at the moment we are fostering a 10month old german shepherd dog. he is lovely. as soon as i have uploaded my photos i will get them on here. we gave them a bone each and there was a bit of growling from the boy so took bone off him and gave it to bobbie. he sat and watched but was not impressed.  :D they have been playing all evening and have been good. when we had our meal my husband put him on his bed and told him to stay. he did. he was really good. he didnt even sit and watch us.(we dont let bobbie do that so the rules must apply to both dogs. although we have to show a little leeway on his behalf) he was taken off his old owner who where abusing him and put into kennels. there is a new home lined up for him so he has come here for the weekend as a bit of a rest bite. his new owner will be picking him on monday or sooner. bobbie is a little bewilderd now as her play mate has gone to sleep. we went to see my son and his little puppy today.  :D he is so sweet. staffie x and has the markings of a rottie. my son had him on the lead as he has only had him a couple of weeks and he is only 4months and he had my son hanging onto the lead while gizmo (puppy) was running around after bobbie who had a huge stick in her mouth. it was so funny. i will put some picks of gizmo on here as well.
kind regards carol.

Hi All,
bobbie is doing well and hasnt had a fit for 14wks 8)
we are now fostering a lurcher pup who is lovely but very vocal :oh: we got him on the 5th dec at 11wks old. his mother had been killed in a car accident and he was hand reared in kennels. he had no manners at all when we got him (and he hasnt got many now :) )bobbie is so soft with him, he lays on her jumps on her bites her ears and mouth and she lets him :( she cant get her toys out or her bone or chews without him running off with them. she will not correct him at all so we have to do it. :| she is so good and i have never known a dog to chew one end of a bone and let another dog chew the other end. :| still rather that than tearing his head off. :) i have managed to toilet train him and he is very good now. doesnt mess in the night and asks to go out. he now sits and gives his paw and is walking nicely on the lead. he has been let down 3 times for a new home and through no fault of his own. he has had kennel cough but being treated for that. he's a bundle of energy.
at the moment my brother is here and he has his dog who is also a rescue and he has only had him for about 2 months. hes a 10yr old collie who does put the pup in his place. 8)
hope everyone is keeping well.
merry christmas to all
and a merry doggy christmas to all the dogs.
oh better add a merry animal christmas for all the other animals :yipi:
kind regards
carol.

Hi, the pup is only a foster dog. 8) we will keep him with us until he finds a new home. hopefully he wont have to wait too long. :) he is lovely but we are unable to keep him as our place is rather small and if we keep him we wouldnt be able to foster any more. so it is better that he goes to his forever home and then our home will be open to another dog that has a bad start in life. 8)

:) i dont know about my brother but i can tell you where we go. we go to greenfarm in scatby or scratby cant remember. its nice there. you have the choice of the entertainment in the site next to green farm or you can just relax in the california arms pub. or just chill on the beach. the entertainment bar does not let dogs in but you can sit in the play area with the dogs. the pub lets you take the dog in but it has a nice front to it which is a couple of mins to the beach. where we stay we are about 5 min walk from the beach but i will warn you its a long widing ramp and wooden stairs, down to the beach. fine going down but i need oxygen when i have to come up it :nakkal: bobbie loves it there, she is straight in the sea. we always go out of season so you would have to check that dogs are allowed on the beach in peak times.
we are looking at getting another shepherd but we want a pup so that we can train it and so it fits in with our laid back life style. (well mostly laid back ;) ) i spend my time on a free site redirecting these people who have there dogs on there for next to nothing and sometimes free to a site that will help them with rescue back up. i dont know how people can advertise there animals without a thought of what they are going to. it mostly full of staffs which is such a shame because you know how they will probably end up. Gizmo, my sons staff was lucky he fell on his feet.
my brother is in west norfolk and its so peaceful there. i never want to come home from visiting him or going on holiday.
well i hope you find somewhere nice in norfolk. as i said we go to green farm which great yarmouth end. its lovely.
bobbie is well and at the moment asleep at my feet. she is so heavy :)
kind regards carol.
