Some famous sheep might be daubed with glow-in-the-dark paint to make them easier for drivers to spot at night.
The roaming sheep of the Forest of Dean are allowed to wander anywhere they like because of an ancient law which dates back to Norman times.

Sadly, about one sheep a week is killed on the roads there.

Residents are looking for glowing pink or yellow paint which won't hurt the sheep. "Anything to make them safer and we're up for it," a spokesman said.

The ancient law means that anyone living within the region of the forest can let their sheep graze freely wherever they like.

People who look after sheep there are known as 'sheep badgers' and they, and their woolly friends, attract lots of tourists to the forest, which is in Gloucestershire.
