Queensland Veterinary Specialists, Brisbane (posted 2nd May)

The Queensland Veterinary Specialists currently have a position available for a casual husbandry nurse who is available to work shifts on weekends the odd weekday shift when needed and able to work full time when staff on holidays.

This position would suit a motivated individual who has a high level of patient care and is flexible with hours, or a trainee nurse studying although we are unable to guarantee 15 hours every week.

Some duties involved are:

  • Keeping the kennels organised and clean throughout the day
  • Medicating patients (oral and injection)
  • Communicating with vets/nurses regarding patient care
  • Placement of Intravenous catheters & IV fluid set-up
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and patient care at all times
  • General cleaning duties, washing, mopping, restocking and inventory control
  • Assisting vets/nurses as required with procedures
  • Basic grooming and bathing of patients
  • Handling/care of wildlife
  • Participating in patient ward rounds
  • Liaising with vets/nurses regarding patient health and care

Experience working in a veterinary clinic/kennels environment essential
Training will be provided.
