oooooo im the first to make a topic! Laughing

well how many of you all do agilty with your dogs?

i do agilty ,working trials and obedience with kia
i help train other peoples dogs that often cant get out to training classes very much. i also teach a puppy and beginers class in my area.

i think that training is a very important thing to do in your dogs life and makes the bond between you very strong and it is soooooo much fun for both you and your dog:D

I wanted to do Flyball with Jack but my local club was a bit, er, stuck up! Unless you had a collie they weren't interested.

We had a go at Agility at a fun dog show, Jack was useless, he walked around all the obsticles and gave me that look of 'why jump or go through when its easier to go around' Laughing Typical Lab they think far too much!

Sid would do that, even a sit is far to much like hard work if you can lay.

lol kia often thinks that about doing the scale in working trials! well i would think the same if sombody expected me to jump 6ft when it is so much easier to run around it! Very Happy
when i first joined the agilty class with kia alot of the people were bitchy with me all because she wasnt a collie! so i got lots of my friend to join with totaly different type of dogs now we have gsds, labs,gr's, and even a little pug!

i think Kia's is a stunner to do you fancy swapping her for Rocky???

Rocky is being put in for the agility when it starts also just to wrok him and give him a goal, plus i used to do it with breeze and we both loved it,my club has flyball to but knowing Rocky he would knock the ball thingy over lol Embarassed

thanks,she is a stunner i know! Wink
she has been such hard work ive put everything into her to get her where she is now, even tho she is still a little baddy!

i dont think kia would like flyball either she would run through the jumps not over them and end up knocking the thrower thingy over too! Rolling Eyes
when you an rocky start agility it will also help him to ignor other dogs and concentrate more on you, thats what i found with kia but she still has her moments Rolling Eyes like yesterday walking through the park trying to practice heelwork for starting our new obedience class tonight, instead of kia looking at me she was looking everywhere but me! trying to run off and play with the people walking towards us! Very Happy

Well I know Rocky loves jumping(considering a few months ago it took me ages to get him to step over a log)i have been making him jump obstacles in the house and teaching him over and he has been leaping non stop and loving it he does deep down love being trained(for the treats i guess)but due to his maleness when we are out and about he gets distracted too quickly, but i seriously can't wait till we start agility in the nicer weather i am really looking forward to it9more than Rocky lol) Rolling Eyes Razz

Working Trials is great fun. I did a few Trials a couple of years ago with my Jack. Laughing

There is nothing like walking behind your dog on a track and watching them work.

My proudest moment with Lottie was comppeting with her in snow!! She's 10" and the must have been a good 4/5" of snow!!!!! She work her little socks off and got round the track with both articles. Sadly she failed the search square because her nose was so cold after the track, she couldn't smell anything!!!!!

I have to admit, I didn't think she would work!!! She did eat a fair bit of snow on the way round!!! Laughing

I am sooooo lucky with my little one, she loves to work and I think she'd try anything I asked of her!!!!

Hi there, i think i have spoken to you before when we first got out german shepherd bobbie, i dont know if you remember she had bad eyes. well she is 14wks old and eyesight fine.
she is a fast learner, she sits on command and sits at kerbs with out prompting and walks well on the lead but not too good on the lead. she is not too bad but i am trying to get her to walk to heel. she is coming along but when we get near to home she really does pull and starts bouncing around. also we are teaching her down, and after 4 goes at it she did it and will do it nearly every time she is told. she is still chewing everything and chewed a few wires but luckily they were not plugged in. i scared to leave her as i am afraid she is going to chew through electrical wires.
is there anything else i can do with her to keep her busy and interested so she doesnt get bored as i think maybe that is why she chews when we are out. we dont go out a lot without the dogs but i went out for half an hour and when i came home it looked as though we had been burgled.
would appreciate any help with this as we have never had a shepherd before and its a long time since chap was a pup. he is 17. thanks
carol.
