Rodent chat - Meet the foster pigs! (WARNING: Large pigtures!) Spud - Tue Dec 05, 2006 6:12 pm Post subject: Meet the foster pigs! (WARNING: Large pigtures!)
I'm currently fostering 6 guinea pigs. There's 5 females (Holly, Georgie, Tilly, Lilly and Cobweb) and 1 male (Toby).
I know that it's a bit late, but these Halloween pictures are the best ones I have of them! I'll get some Christmas ones soon.
Holly
Lilly
Cobweb
Georgie
Toby
Tilly
Yeah, bit late but I couldn't resist. Hope you don't mind the influx of pictures!
A few other pictures can be viewed here.

She's the most docile, but she's got very little fur left. The guy told me it was because she'd only just had her litter weaned from her, and that the father was in a similar state because the sons had been moved in with him. Poor things.

Nope, they're still all here! I do actually have someone coming over in about half an hour to have a look at the boy, Toby; the first person so far! Although I have to admit that I didn't actually put any posters up until this weekend just gone
Fingers crossed!

It was quite sad to see them go, but I was happy that they'd finally found a great forever home.
GerbilPunk - Sun Jun 17, 2007 9:55 am Post subject:
i thought fostering was when you sort of long-term babysitted until the parents (or owners) come back? if they went to a new home then thats not fostering is it? Spud - Sun Jun 17, 2007 11:43 am Post subject:
Yes, I now class them as rescues and had forgotten that I'd originally written that they were 'fosters'. I classed them as fosters to begin with because before they arrived I was considering fostering for the RSPCA; taking care of their animals until the RSPCA could find homes for them.

oooh i see! you cant change the title of a topic anyway... can you? anyway, which ones left? please dont say it was tilly or georgie! they were the cutest!

All of the girls went to their new home, so Toby is the only one left now. I think that he'll be very difficult to place because he needs to go to a home that either already has a male/spayed female guinea pig, or is willing to adopt one. And I think that if someone is going to need to adopt another guinea pig as well as Toby, they'll feel that they may as well go to the shelter and get a pair.

awww poor thing... maybe if no-one wants him you could keep him? but maybe someone will take him, you never know! you should look on the positive side of life! Spud - Sun Jun 17, 2007 12:04 pm Post subject:
I'm keeping my eye out for another male rescue so that I can bond them. This will make it easier to place him (although it's still difficult - I'm picky!), and even if I don't manage at least he wont be lonely. I don't think it's right to keep a guinea pig alone, unless in exceptional circumstances where the pig doesn't get on with others.
