hi ya,

I can't comment on the gentle leader as I havn't used it but me and my lab bella havn't had a good experience with the halti.
It took less than 2 months for it to break and during walks I would have to keep stopping to pull the straps away from her eyes Shocked
she didnt like it at all!!!

hope this helps

why don't you try using a treat. let him sniff the treat then move the treat slowly to your leg and try and get him to follow it, keep saying your dogs name and close, then in time he will know that close means walk next to you nicely with no pulling...

i got that from training class, have you tried training classes? its the only way for calvin to have fun with other dogs, cause lots of them are pups, and ther is a white long haired german shepherd there called max, and calvin loves jumping all over him lol Laughing ...but its the only way he can be a pup with other dogs, all the dogs that live in my area are all old or to small Sad , so hopefully he will find new friends that he can play with outside.

if you have tried training classes then maybe try asking your vet, or staff at a pet shop,.

ive had no problems with the halti using it on our labx. At first he pulled and it did go near his eyes when he did this but now he doesnt pull and he walks close to me or my OH,so we have no problems what so ever

The Halti is great and has been the best thing for Meg our 9 month old Springer. She was awful on a normal collar and lead despite going to puppy training and us both being shown exactly what to do. She was having none of it and preferred to pull until she nearly choked! The halti stopped this almost immediately and we now have a pleasant walk to the park and there have been no problems with it hurting her at all.

The only thing I do find when we get to the park is that the Halti does not work very well when she is on an extendable lead as she gets really tangled up, so I swap to collar and lead. She doesnt pull as much when at the park because she just wants to stop and sniff everything!

i have tried both of them on my saint bernard and find that the gentle leader definitely doesn't pull into his eyes anywhere near as much as the halti did. you can fit the underneath strap tighter do it doesn't move around like the halti does. once your dog gets used to it he treats it as the norm, but may get a bit distressed to begin with. make sure you are shown how to use it correctly as the dog may find it really distressful if you use it in the incorrect manner.
