I have noticed a huge controversy on the PetStreet website concerning aspects on the animal welfare bill with a passionate arguement on the right size for a rabbit hutch. Its worth checking out on the blog - Humberside RSPCA burn "illegal" rabbit hutches!.

I got both my bunnies from the RSPCA and both times they said they needed to be different sizes Confused
The first time I adopted, they said it needed to be 5 foot and then they changed the goal posts by the time I went back and said that it needed to be 6 foot Confused
I personally think the bigger the better but my bunnies have the run of my whole garden all day every day so they don't spend much time in their hutch.

I personally don't think it's the size of the hutch that counts, as long as they can comfortably sit up and stretch out in it, but the fact that they should have free access to a secure run (or garden) every day. Bunnies need to be able to do bunny things, nibble grass, dig holes, hop about...and do those impressive bunny flips where they leap and buck at the same time. Wink

I agree Very Happy I hate seeing them just sitting there in a hutch all day.

Ive got 2 6 ft by 1 metre huches, and a smaller one if a doe gets pregnant to be alone and still feel sad that i must take them from the garden on a night.

My brother has a large bunny called bunny (dont ask lol) and he is in a 3-4ft cage but he does have the run of the garden all day every day and is quite happy.

However when the weather is awful and he cant go outside he has to run round the house otherwise he stomps his feet and headbutts the hutch all day.So i agree that the bigger the cage the better.
