What homemade toys do you give to your little pets? My gerbils love toilet roll tubes, small cardboard boxes, glass jam jars, ceramic flower pots & loads more. No need to spend loads of money.

Maddy likes to play with socks and act them as rats plus the odd toy

my chinchillas dont like to play they like to knaw everything instead!
iv just had them out for an hour and iv now got knawed skirting boards, walls, clothes and god knows what my wardrobe is like underneath because stumpy decided to hide under there for ages and i could hear her knawing away.
It took me 30 mins chasing them round my bedroom trying to get them back in the cage. (cheeky pies)
i bribed them with a sand bath. they just couldnt resist GerbilPunk - Sun Jun 17, 2007 9:11 am Post subject:

wheatgrass...not exactly a toy, but is homegrown always goes down well with all the pets....unlike us humans!
Other toys are cardboard boxes, loo rolls, loo rolls with loo roll paper stuffed inside them and maybe a nut as well.
By far the best way to keep small animals amused I have found is to scatter their food rather than put it in a bowl as thats how they spend their life in the wild, searching for food, so I only use food bowls if I'm feeding porridge or other messy protein food to the hamster.

i like to feed it in a bowl to my gerbil, because i know if he's eaten it ornot. if he hasnt, i know notto give him alot more, if he has, i'll just top it up. i also like watching him bury it though!
