Post subject: Best bedding for degus?

I took in 4 degus yesterday and im just wandering whats the best bedding to put down for them. Iv looked at endless websites and they are saying different things.

at the moment they have just got paper down which is what they had in there cage when i got them but it needs changing 2 or 3 times a day and doesnt smell to fresh as im sure you can imagine.

any suggestions? Confused

i will defiantley post some pics when they get used to me they are nervous at the moment so eveytime i go to take a picture they hide in the tube.

awww bless what are they called? aren't they simular to chinchillas? cant you use the same stuff you use for rumpy and stumpy?

Use wood shavings (avoid cedar & pine) with a little hay, shredded paper or shredded toilet tissue/kitchen roll for bedding. They love hay, some will eat a bit but thats fine.

No problem clareabella, ive wanted degus for ages, but havent got the room for them, plus my bf would kill me if I got anymore pets lol.
