Post subject: WARNING - VIRUS ON MSN, please be aware
For those of you on MSN please be aware of a virus that is using your contacts to spread.

You will suddenly get a MSN IM asking you to take a look at new pictures and offer you a chance to download them.

DO NOT ACCEPT

This is how the virus is transfered.

yeah i got one yesterday and i tried to open it (didn't know it was a virus) but i have done a scan and its not picking one up.

msn can give out bugs that virus scans don't pick up. if you think you have a virus (your computer acting weird sending emails you didn't write or moving files you didn't move etc ) i recommend putting all your files you need onto a disk then scan them to make sure there are no viruses then reset your Operating System.
this will clear your computer of any bugs.

Lisa

Your anti virus wont pick it up, but you would know if you have it, it erases tool bars and make the computer useless

its not an email its an IM its called IMAGE.ZIP
my friend send me an IM saying "hey look at this picture from years ago" but he didn't type it... there is also one saying "Do you think i should put this picture on My Space"

my computer isn't acting weird at all so i think i am safe but i am still going to reset my Operating System later on today to be on the safe side.

MSN is another 'brain child' of microsoft windows isn't it? Urgh, don't start me on Bill Gates, everything he has ever made is utter rubbish, imagine where we'd be today if he hadn't ripped off other people's ideas! Rolling Eyes

Anyway, ta for the warning, must alert my brother! Smile

Oh crap, I did wonder why someone I don't really know suddenly asked me to have a look at a picture. I ahve to say in my naiivity, I did attempt to look at the file but obviously no picture was seen. My laptop is fine at the moment...do you think my computer might still have it even though it's not showing any signs? How long would it take for the virus to take effect?
