Hi ive had my cockatiel Dexter now for about three weeks and he still wont get on my finger or eat out of my hand. Has anyone got advice because i want to start letting him out of his cage as soon as possible thanks. poppydog83 - Tue May 06, 2008 5:01 pm Post subject:
Hey there,sorry to say but all animals and birds are different as to how long they will take to become tame. Its not a process you can rush,ive learnt that with all the animals ive had. My syrian hammy ive got took me about a month to tame him,my budgies i had 1 of them took 5/6 weeks to tame and the other took nearly 3 months before he was tame. My bros cockatiel he had was hand reared,so she was semi tame when he got her,but it still took him 6 weeks ish to tame her.
I understand your frustration because you want to be able to let him out and have a good fly around,but just be patient,it will happen
