my female cat has recently had 4 little kittens,
we also have a male cat, who is the father to some of the kittens.
I have kept him away from the kittens since they have been born.He knows where they are.and i keep the door locked so he cant get in.
Would he actually try and harm them ? they are now exactly 1 week old.I was told that he might kill them he he were to get to them.

He should be O.k with them. I know plenty of people who have let thier cats breed and have had no problems with the male giving the kittens attention, although the females do tend to get protective ofver them.

My female had a litter of 4 and I had her brother also (not the father) and he was fine with them, he gave them a little tap when they jumped on him but he never hurt them. Just let him go and have a look but keep an eye on him, he most likely wont be interested after he's seen what's going on.

Allthough your male cat might be ok with them and is gentel with them, Will your mother cat let him near them (being over protected) Thats the other thing you need to look out for.

My kittens are a bit older (now 9weeks) but to introduce them to the 6 male cats in the house I fed the males (lots and favourites) and then let them get into their normal comfy off to sleep positions (the backs of the sofas etc) and then brought the kittens to them one by one and let them have a sniff. We got the odd hiss and spit but that was mainly from the kittens lol. The males soon adapted to the sproglets and were soon washing and cleaning them and sharing food bowls.
Just keep an eye on them to begin with; once the kittens get to about 6 weeks they will soon make their mark. All my cats are terrified of Felix and he now stands exactly 6 inces tall (my biggest Whiskers is 29 inches to the tips of his ears lol)
