Hi there, I'm new to this! I have a 6month old kitten.. I live in a flat and want her to be a home cat! I haven't had her vaccinated yet but will be doing that this week! She keeps going to the door meowing..is this a kitten's natural instinct? Someone told me once she has had her jabs this will stop?? Also every chance she gets to eat human food she does...is this normal..??? At the minute shes very spiteful too...will this eventually change? Please any1 with info please can u advise me on this! Female cats become sexually mature between 7 and 12 months but sometimes they can have there first heat much earlier, so she may keep going to your door to get out and mate with a male cat.

kittens are supposed to have there first vacination at 9 weeks old then they have a second one at 12 weeks old, then the vet suggests you get them vacinated every 12 months but there is a lot of controversy on this and many people suggest its not nescessary, it genarally up to u though. Also vacintions/jabs do not alter whether your cat wants to get out or not.

As for the human food any cat will eat are food if we let them have it, or if we dont let them have it they usually find a way to steal it anyway lol

I agree there! Mally ( my cat) used to come up on my lap and start pinching pieces of pasta, chips etc of my plate when she was a kitten. It's nothing to worry about Very Happy

My lot prefer "human" food and for as long as it's in moderation don't try to stop it. although my lot might need help as Fudge refuses to eat anythong other than tins of Tuna and sausages; Toto loves pasta and chips with ketchup, Cupid loves jam and my laptop has just been invaded by ticTac who is after my Wotsits lol x

Think very carefully before making the house cat thing official - I kept Toto and Fudge imprisioned indoors for 15 months but then relented and let them out to become far happier puddy tats x Oh and house cat or not - get the jabs done asap - humans can bring disease in as well you know x

Your cat may be bored. Try introducing some new games. fishing rod type games are good. Ping pong balls or rolled up bits of paper flicked across the room or mice stuffed with cat nip are all good.

Remember that cats are born to hunt. If we keep them indoors we will have to replace the excitement of being outdoors and that is very difficult.

Think about letting your cat out for short periods each day. Always before meal times so that there is an incentive to come back Laughing
