My hubby noticed a rash on Oscar's back today. It's like brown scaley looking and seems to hurt him when we touch it.

He doesn't seem to want to scratch it.

We have made an appointment at the vets tomorrow morning but I feel worried about it.

Has anyone heard of this before and has an idea what it could be.

Oh and if you touch the fur there it just comes out.

Could be a fungal skin infection, but I'm not sure. Good luck at the vets.

It's only a small patch and I can't see any anywhere else on him so I hope it's something they can clear up quickly.

I'll keep you informed.

Well have been to the vets with Oscar and (bit sigh of relief) it's nothing to worry about.

He tested him with an ultraviolet light for ringworm and mange but everything was ok as regards that.

It's a very common thing apparently. Can't remember or pronounce the name of it. What happens is that a little pustule forms and then the dog scratches it and then scratches somewhere else and breaks the skin so this virus then takes root there and so forth.

The treatment is antibiotics and some special shampoo to be used twice a week. He won't like that Laughing

That should do the trick.

He may get it again or he may not we'll have to see.
