I have three beautiful cats, the youngest, was let out by my well meaning three year old, she returned two days later with her tail between her legs, my neighbour said she saw her with the local tom, being a bit more friendly than she should have, 63 days later, i have one very pregnant cat, my question is this....why is she behaving so strangely? she is on my bed or in my husbands drawer, wont leave the bedroom and is incredibly clingy, i thought sat night she may be on the way, but nothing, she isnt straining, she would have been down the vets by now!! just sleeping, not eating very much and doesnt like being left, are we close or am i just impatient, i homes for six kittens and all have been vetted, straight down the vets afterwards, there is already so many unwanted kitties in the wold, i feel guilty for being part of the problem, any advice???

i'm glad to hear you are being responsible about her. it does happen unfortunately and a queen in heat can be avery persuasive creature. anyway it does sound like she is very close and she is just searching out a safe place to have her babies. try to make her a nest site maybe in an airing cupboard or under you bed or somewhere else where she feels undsiturbed...but on saying that she is a cat and we all know how they like to do their own things. just try to disuade her from having them on you r bed, which is quite a common thing to happen. if she ends up haveing them somewhere inconvenient then move them and show her where you have put them, but try not to handle too much. i hope all goes well...oh just one more thing, she will try to get out again as soon as she has had them and she will be incredibly fertile so please be extra vigilant.
(oh and photos please once they are born) Wink

My cheeky little cat got herslef pregnant, when the time came she tried to have them on my pillow at 3am!!! With me laying on the very same pillow!!

I was rudely awoken so poor Angel was slung unceremoniously off the bed then i realised her waters had broken (on my pillow!) and I placed her carefull in the box I had prepared for her in my bedroom, we then sat with towels and sissors at the ready waiting to intervene just in case, within an hour she had given birth to 4 beautiful kittens, it was amazing and very moving.

It was really odd, we thought she might not want us at the birth, but everytime one of us moved to leave her, she would cry out, so I sat and stroked her through the contractions.

Its the best thing in the world..........after the kittens were weaned though we had her spayed.

Oh one other thing, you will have to make sure you feed her double the amount of food you normally feed her ( I fed mine kitten food) while she is producing milk and feeding the kittens, and make sure she has a litter tray near them.
