A good friend of mine turned up with a beautiful white fantailed dove the other day that she had found injured.The story behind it was theres a pub down the road that used to have a dove cott on the roof with 14 or so doves.These birds were totaly hand tame and used to being fed by hand twice a day.For some reason the owners of the pub moved out and left the birds with the pub and the new owners.The new owners then smashed the dove cott up as the birds made too much noise and mess leaving the birds with no housing and food,most of the birds died from cats or were hit by cars said a local man,but this one was sat in the middle of the road so my friend picked it up as it had a bad leg.Teri went into the pub to ask about the bird and was told with a frosty reception not to bring the bird anywhere near the pub so she got a box and brought it to mine.We phoned the vet who took it in free of charge an said it just had an infection in ots foot and gave it antibiotics.They will now rehome the dove with other birds,the vet and my b/f were livid that anyone could be so cruel and are now getting in touch with the rspca and the local papers,my friend is now on the look out for any more of these birds that are wandering around on the loose
