Post subject: Smelly dog! Reply with quote

Hi Everybody, I could use some advice. I have a six year old male golden lab and for the past couple of weeks his aroma shall I put it has become stronger and stronger, to the point that those of us in the house can even smell him when we arent in the house!!! We have tried brushing him and bathing him but nothing seems to be working. Is there anything that we could be missing? Anyone that has any ideas please let me know

Cheers

Mattyboyblu Very Happy

Have you checked his teeth and gums, as these can get really smelly if there is a problem? Or could it be that his anal glands need emptying, as they can produce a vile smell, especially if they become infected?

Certain skin conditions smell too Rolling Eyes .

Hi

Yes you need to work out where the smell is coming from.

Usually it is a dental problem or as said it could be his anal glands or a skin problem, it could be just his natural doggy odour.

If have bathed him, his mouth looks ok and you really can not tell where the odour is from it would be wise to have him checked over by a vet or vet nurse.

Let us know how you get on ok.

You can buy 'pet fresh' spray which is an effective safe doggy deoderiser if it turns out to be his natural odour.
