hi,
my dog kia is starting to scratch her back really bad, she always gets quite itchy when she molts but this time its alot worse when i look she has lots of small scabs over her back and all of her under coat has come out from that area.my dads dog has a skin condition and takes steroids (that dont work but thats a different story!) and my dog went to stay with them for 2days a little while ago, do you think that she has caught the condition off my dads dog? kia also has a wheat allergy i feed her on autarky with a small amount of tripe which the vet said was fine for her.im taking her to the vets in about a month for her yearly injections do you think it will be ok to wait untill then? what do you think it is causing it?
your advice would be much helpful
thank you ____________ My goal in life is to be as good of a person as my dog already thinks I am!

hi - this may seem obvious but has your dog got fleas? Most cases it turns out to be fleas - especially if mixing with other dogs - itchy red spots does sound suspicious.
If you have ruled out fleas - what condition does the other dog have? It probably isn't a contagious condition if she is on steroids.
If there are no fleas - take her to a vet as scratching can cause damage to the skin and drive the dog mad. Secondary skin infections from self mutilation can be worse than the initial skin problem if left untreated.
Good luck - report back ok.

Yes some dogs and cats do have an allergic reaction to the saliva from flea bites - just one bite can set off an itchy/painful rash.
Hopefully with no fleas around she will be fine.
Frontline is great for fleas -
Cheers
