Post subject: Drinking Water Reply with quote

Can anyone help?

My cat (from a young age and I know I should have put a stop to it earlier) likes to drink water from the tap at the bathroom sink.

He does not take water from anywhere else. I have tried leaving water in different places in the house in differnt types of bowls/plates/containers and tried to encourage him to drink from these but to no avail.

The main reason I am trying to stop his bathroom drinking habits is because I am sick and tired of cleaning dirty paw prints from my sink and bath.

However I am concerned that if I do stop him he will not be getting enough fluids as he only enjoys dried food.

He is one and a half and takes no notice to my annoyance at having to clean the bathroom on a daily basis.

Any tips for me???

at one point i had 5 cats living in my house and they all liked drinking from various places (other than their water bowl). the worst was molly who used to knock the cover off my glass of water in the bedroom and drink from that, often knocking it over.

even wilson prefers to drink from our outside tap to his bowl so soory no way to prevent it it think. always make sure there is a bowl of fresh water available just in case though. and keep cleaning those muddy prints.. Very Happy

Perhaps you could try one of these...A lot of cats only like to drink from running water, so you are not alone...At least he doesn't drink from the toilet like my Lurcher does...yuck Rolling Eyes .

If you scroll down there are less expensive ones than that first one Wink . You could probably get one off of E-bay too Wink .

my cat is also wont drink from any normal places Rolling Eyes last week i walked past the bathroom and saw her trying to lean into the toilet (oh obiously left it up Evil or Very Mad ) i burst out laughing and it scared her and she fell in! Laughing at least it has taught her not to drink from there agian! i leave bowls of water around the house everywhere just incase she needs a drink but have never actually seen her drink from them any of them. i think im going to get 1 of them water foutians they look really good and saves sammy falling in toilets agian and walking allover the kitchen tops to get to the sink!
she does also tend to leave her afternoon catch wherever she stops for a drink(kitchen/bathroom) so i often find little dead mice and birds there!!! remind me agian why i love her so much Rolling Eyes
