I'm curious to know what you look out for when rehoming a pet for example i'm rehoming a 10 wk old tabby kitten for a friend i wont go into detail as it would take up 4 posts but i am very wary of advertsing her in our lacal paper as many do due to not knowing who will be coming to take her and how on earth do you tell by seeing someone for 5 minutes that they are going to look after them and not hurt them or give them away due to not being educated enough in the first place.

I will be making a phone call to http://www.catchat.org/index.html later on this afternoon as i feel this is the right way to go as they take them in worm and flea them etc and will vet new homes i hate having to rehome her but with me just having my new kitten kimba this is just too much for me and i do not want to get attached plus its not fair on the poor thing as i would hate for her to get settled her and then be moved on thats why i'm making the phone call today.

Me and the kids have named her annie the orphan Crying or Very sad but i'm sure she will find a loving home that she deserves.

So my question to you is what things would you look out for in rehoming a pet be it dog cat or small variety and do rescue places have strict rules on this.

I'm sure if the potential new owners are really keen of rehoming her Sam that they wouldn't mind or think its cheeky to ask for you to do a home check. At least then you can get to know them better and ask loads of questions. Ask them if their willing to stay in touch occasionally with updates on how she's doing, you never know you'll proberbally become friends I did with some people I home checked for dogs.

Has your vets got a notice board to advertise her on as at least then you'd know that the person who takes her on vets their animals Smile

Good luck Very Happy

Sambo

You can privately advertise the cat on Dog Pages under other animals or advertise locally but specificallt state a homecheck will take place and that you require a small donation to an animal charity.

NEVER offer an animal Free to a good home, its all too easy for it to fall into the wrong hands and be used for unthinkable purposes.

On DP there is also a volunteer section where you can ask for a homechecker to check out the prospective new home for you too if you can't do it for yourself.

The best option though would be to rehome via a rescue so there is full back up afterwards, but you are the temp foster mum in the meantime.

Well not sure if this is good news or not as it broke my heart to let her go but the lady who runs kats cradle rescue came to fetch her Saturday tea-time she assured me that she would definitely make sure she went to a good home i just felt so guilty as she was settling down and was happily asleep on my settee when the lady turned up and had made best mates with kimba Crying or Very sad i have been thinking of fostering for a while now and as cats protection league hadnt got back in touch with me after i offered my services the lady from the rescue sai she will pass my details on

Although not sure i'm cut out for it as i had only had annie orphan lol thats what we named her bless for 2 days and i felt like crying when she had gone i will ring her in a couple of days to see if she has settled in her new home ok and will update you.
