Hey...I'm hoping someone can help me out a little.
I brought a 6 mo. old cat into the house today where we have had a dog for 9 years.
I have a cage for the dog...and a carrying crate for the cat.
They don't seem to like each other so far, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips as to how to make it easier for them to adjust.
Can I keep them in cages near each other for a little while? Keep the cat in the carrier and let the dog sniff around?
I don't want anyone to get hurt...I don't think the dog would do anything, but I really don't want the cat to scratch the crap outta the dog either...Please tell me they'll get along eventually!
I don't think it's the right time to get the cat declawed...because he might need those in his defense sometime soon, but...I just don't want any injuries. ;( I'm kinda clueless.
Any estimates on when they should be relaxing a bit with proper introduction?
Any help would be awesome!

keep them in seperate rooms so they can get used to the scent of each other. maybe give them each something that the other sleeps on that has a strong scent of them on it. then i would just say let them meet each other gradually. always allow the cat access to escape ie places to jump upto out of the dogs reach. apart from that i can't think of anything else. someone else will have more tips i am sure. ____________
