What shampoo is best for dogs? we used a johnsons one ( for dogs of course) on diesel but it makes his skin dry and flaky. I know its a cheap one so thats probably why, he doesnt scratch it or anything, it just looks like he has dandruff Laughing

Im only asking as he stinks lol and needs a bath Very Happy I swear the only things that dog cleans is his feet after he has wee'd all over them ( he is far to lazy to lift his leg up when doing so!) and his manly bits Laughing Laughing Laughing

The reason he may have dry flaky skin is because of the bathing process itself, as really you shouldn't bath dogs unless you really really have to as it stripes their coats off the natural oils hence the dandruff you are talking about. How often do you bath? Could you not just bath the soiled area?

What is he fed? Poor diet can also led to dry flaky skin. If you feed a poor quality food like pedigree, Iams/eukanuba, bakers, winalot etc then chances are that is also contributing to poor skin. You should try switching to a better quality food such as James Wellbeloved which p@h now stock.

It would also perhaps be useful giving him 1 oil of evening primrose tablet/capsule a day or getting fish oil capsules from your vet to help boost his skins recovery. Ultimately I'd avoid bathing him again unless directed by your vet with a special shampoo.

Thanks for the info hun, he does have primrose oil capsules but saying that he is fed on bakers complete, i will switch him to james wellbeloved.

As for bathing him, we only do it once a year but he is at that time where he is getting a bit to stinky Laughing
