How many of you have helped in pet rescue? Was this to take an animal in, make a donation, help with checking out animals/prospective homes, or something else?

I rescued a weirmarenar (not sure how to spell it )

We found it locked in a field on the way back from my daughters school some kids were trying to catch it with a rope so i took it home with me we phoned the rspca and were told they couldn't come out until the day after

But after a bit of persusasion an animal warden came round to then tell us that there was no kennels empty and that the dog would be left in the van overnight which me and my friend thought was horrendous so my friend took it home with her to give it a home my friend then had to sign a paper to say she would keep it for a month where it would then become hers if nobody came forward to claim it.

Nobody ever came forward to claim the poor thing

But he is now in a loving home so there is a happy ending Smile

I have also took jess my black and white male in from stray

I had a black and white cat also named jess previous to this who went missing and after weeks of searching a lady phoned me to say she had been feeding a stray cat for 3 weeks but unfortunately on seeing him he wasnt my jess but i took him in anyway and there he has stayed and he has turned out to be a very loving cat Smile

i actualy co ran a rescue up til 18mths ago and had to give it up due to my nan needing a carer, people around my area still bring me unwanted animals cats etc though i just cant get away from it.It was great work i couldnt have found a better job although it was all voluntary the only downside was in nov last year we had 32 animals in my care at home which the local council werent amused about at all and caused quite an uproar therefore i had to decrease our numbers

I would love to foster but i have been told i cant because i already have animals do any of you know different it would be lovely to look after a sick or unwanted animal give them the love and support they deserve and then pass them onto a loving home.

Yes we used to foster cats and at the time I had two cats of my own and a dog. I suppose it all depends which organization you go to Sambo I would phone around all the ones in your area as they all have their own sets of rules.

Stray cats dont get me started my mother is cat magnet we have had about 17 cats just turn up on our doorstep they were reported to local vets, kennels and rescue centres but everyone of them stayed she still has 6 alive and kicking and i have one smokey grey that i found in a dumped lorry cab in my horse field the mother had been killed so i took the 3 kittens home and fed them, and then gave 2 to very good homes when they were old enough and kept my little boy blue!!

ok - i have worked in a vets with the local animal pound. i have worked for a local rescue centre.

i have fostered wild animals - hedgehogs, birds, foxes.

i have "adopted" many small animals in need of homes - chipmunks, rabbitsm hamsters, gerbils. when i lived with my mum n dad ( a while ago!) iword got round that i would rescue unwanted animals. they used to get left on my doorstep or the smaller ones posted thru the letterbox!!!! - i will never forget mu mum screaming one day cos a hamster had just walked out from under the sofa!

we have a rescue chihuahua!

sally Very Happy

I used to run my own small pet rescue (guinea pigs, rabbits, mice, gerbils etc) but gave up a few years ago due to ill health. I now crochet blankets for cats at a local rescue.

I've fostered a number of animals and reptiles, some i ended up adopting. I've got a cat from a rescue centre and donate to various animal trusts.
