Post subject: Reasons why I am getting rid of..... Reply with quote

When I helped with rehoming Dalmatians, I became quite cynical about the reasons why people wanted to rehome their pet. Some of the more popular were:-

I'm pregnant so it has to go NOW
It doesn't get on with my older dog (but they've had it for 3 years)
It ate the hamster
It snapped at the kids (who were swinging off its tail)
My husband/wife doesn't want it (I'd keep the dog!)
It sheds hairs everywhere
We're going on holiday
I have to go out to work these days
My child is allergic to it (we can't be bothered to walk it)

What is the worse reason you have heard?

The worst I have ever heard was when my great grandmother got her rough collie when I was little. He was a beautiful tri rough collie, and she saw an advert for Rebel, and his previous owners said, "well he just eats too much"
pathetic excuse

Think spottydog was lurking on a Forum I used to go on that has now been closed!

Worst excuse I ever heard - we're moving and he's being put down in an hour!!! Yep that's how I got my little babes Paddy!!! (incidently I arranged re-homing of the dogs as well!!!)

Im afraid spottydog leaving the site is a sore point but like anne said she was a valued member to the site and when we had the crash she was great in helping put the site back together i have pm and emailed her for her to return but had no reply.

I had a simular experience skippy a few years ago now my boyfriend knew somebody who was going to have their rotty put to sleep as her boyfriend was beating her up and she was moving back in with her parents so i took him in.
