He's gorgeous such a cute lil face!!!!!
And as for the RSPCA what a cruel bunch of ppl fancy putting that gsd to sleep the poor thing so much for their policies on pts animals, still i guess they think what the public don't know won't harm or stop all the money coming in shame on them |

The thing is though, they have too many dogs and there just isn't enough homes, so what can they do? More money and kennels won't solve it either, as many of the older 'not so adorable' the dogs will live a life in kennels which is so stressful and not sustainable as eventually there would be so, so many dogs. I am of course, NOT supporting their actions, but it is a very real problem. Many abort litters again to prevent more unwanted animals and whilst many may argue its cruel, many rescues, not just RSPCA are faced with either aborting the litter or having older dogs pts to make room for the new arrivals.
Its such a hard balance, and that is why I am so against the vast majority of breeders, there is just too many breeders and not enough willing to rescue. So many breeders are there for the wrong reasons- cause babies are cute, money, so as their pet can have children, for an 'educational experience' etc. The few who are there to improve the species and breed responsible still may fail in providing proper homes or care advice or whatever.
However, its those who are backyard breeders that seriously need a good slap. And I also feel it is everyones duty to neuter those animals that don't 'fit' into a breeding programme. Too many accidental litters means pups that are cheaper and easy to get than at a rescue. It is also dogs from these litters which are more likely to end up in improper homes if the owners just want rid of the pups/kittens whatever the animal.
Other than dogs and cats, rabbits and guineapigs are an ever increasing problem, and I would love to see them and all other animals banned from being sold in shops, they aren't toys so why sell them for anyone to walk off the street and buy anyway. Last year, 33,000 rabbits were handed over.....thats a LOT of bunnies, and unfortunatley many were bought on impulse at shops as they looked so 'gentle, cute and fluffy', when really they are in many ways, similar to dogs.
Oh I have talked too much...again As you can see I feel so strongly about this |

We was told our dog was a re-home, but it turned out he was abused & was rescued.
Here he is in the snow last month...
One of our cats was also a re-home, he's ex owners didn't want him because he scratched a bit of furniture??
Our 2 tortoises were also re-homes, the smaller one was no longer wanted & the larger one had lost her partner & had stopped eating, so we was asked to put her with our boy. They got on fine from day one & within 30 minutes she had started eating again.
Two of the rabbits & guinea pigs were re-homes.
He is now pure white, when we got him he was black with durt, in this picture he was just getting he's colour back.
And lastly the parrot was also a re-home.

| ive probably put this either earlier on in this thread or in another one,but for years ive wanted a staffy for a pet,and i was going to rehome one. But ive been on some rehoming sites and most of the staffies either arent good with other dogs or the people arent sure how they are with other dogs. But i have seen a dog who is a gsd cross and looks gorgeous, but its trying to convince my OH to get a third dog |

Our cat Daisy was rescued as a kitten from a rescue centre. She had been found abandoned. Bless her she is 9 now.
We now have a 10 month old Springer - Meg - who is absolutely adored and couldnt wish for a better home. When we were looking for a puppy we tried to rescue but they didnt want to know because we work. Even though I explained that once house trained the puppy would be able to come to work with me and I would be taking time off when we brought the puppy home. Meg was house trained in no time and happily comes to work with me every day and is a hit with everyone. A poor rescue pup lost out on a loving home but then again if we had rescued we wouldn't have our lovely Meg! |
