| Post subject: Help! Disappearing Cat |

Could someone provide advice please. My cat approximately 4 years old and we got him from a rescue centre and we have had him for nearly two years.
The problem is that in the last month he has been disappearing off for a few days then coming back for a couple, then disappearing again. My suspicion is that someone else has taken a shine to him and is feeding him and allowing him to sleep in their house.
So far I have tried changing his collar and adding a identity tag to try and relay to whoever it is that he does actually belong to some one, but this still has not worked!
I am considering keeping him in for 2/3 weeks to try and break the cycle but I'm not sure if I am doing the right thing??
I would be grateful for any thoughts or suggestions as to what I can do to stop his diappearing act! |

firstly is he neutered.
if not then get this done as it may help with his wandering tendencies.
unfortunatly cats are pretty fickle creatures. and if someone else is offering them food and a warm place to stay they aren't to fussed. one of my female cats use to spend half her life in my neighbours....which i wouldn't have minded too much except he was an alcoholic and didn't live in the cleanest or safest of environments. and he used to pass out unconscious for days and keep my cat in with him. and she still used to go back. god knows what he was feeding her. so unless you find out who it is and they are a reasonable person who listens when you say PLEASE don't feed MY cat then there isn't an awful lot that you can do.

Unfortunately the one thing we can never change about our cats is their independance!
You could keep him in for a few weeks, but generally they tend to go back to their old ways.
You could put a note out with his photo around your streets and ask that whoever is feeding him, however kind of them, would they mind not doing so, you could say he is needing special treatment or somthing.
