Post subject: My Jack Russell's testicles have failed to drop! HELP!! Reply with quote

Hi Vetnurse
My JR is 7 months old. His testicles are nowhere to be seen. When he lyes on his back you can see 2 glands at the base of the penis, but when you feel around, there is nothing else! I want to have him castrated & i have been told it will calm him a little, but as i say, there is nothing visible to castrate!

I am a student & get benefit, but he had his jabs at a local 'Vets for Pets' & just had his free checkup.
The vet said they definately won't drop now & i said he will be registered at PDSA.
I can't at the the moment afford the vet fee, so he will be going to PDSA on Wednesday for a check up.

I know this can be dangerous in later life, but i was wondering if at 7 months, i've leaft it too late or could any damage be done now!
The vet said they may be in his abdomen & he was ok about the PDSA thing, i was wondering if he may be scouting for business!
At least the PDSA won't be!

Is this a relatively common prob & routine surgery, even if they have to look around?
He's only small, there can't be many places where they have to look.
I'm a bit anxious for him .
Any advice i'd appreciate!

Gaz
