| Post subject: Babe magnet? |
 |

I sold a puppy to a couple once and when they came to collect him, the husband said he was looking forward to the day when he could take him out as he would be a "babe magnet"! His wife was not amused.
Dalmatians still attract hoards of kids long after the films and the local ones in my street appear from nowhere when I drive up, surround the car, open the door so they can make a fuss of the dogs if not, they lean on my doorbell until I answer so they can do the same.
Does your dog attract particular attention? Why is this do you think?

Yes they did, and all the puppy farms revved up again and caused endless problems to Dalmatian Welfare who were rehoming over 300 dogs a year.
People bought them as a fad. It happened with OES with the Dulux advert too, though not to the same extent, and Border Collies were bought by inexperienced people with young families living in a 2-up, 2-down on an estate! They expected the poor puppy to be instantly trained as they had watched a certain BBC programme featuring sheepdog trials

I love the attention sasha gets when i walk her people are genuinely surprised at how good she is especialy when she gives them a big sloppy kiss
I have had a lot of unwanted attention aswell though from silly people who think she is going to eat them and even cross the road to get away from her i simply carry on walking and smile to myself although this does really upset me as i know she is beautiful and such a sweetheart |

we used to get that when we had dobermans and staffies they look at you very strangely..
A question for spottydog, how did you know that your puppies were not just going to a home where they just wanted a dog from the film? did you have to screen their homes first? |

wilson just gets called beethoven, by anyone under the age of 10, and parents tend to cross the street with a terrified look on their faces. when we walk by. ____________
