| Post subject: my cat not eating... Please advise! |
 |
|
Hi, i have a 2 and a half year old cat called Jasper.
From yesterday morning (30/05/07), he vommitted several times and haven't eaten anything since then. He looks very weak and when i touch his tummy he makes a noise like its painful.
Can advise me what to do or any help, i will aprreciate before i take him to the vets.
Thanks,
MZ |

years ago my old cat came home with a similar problem so i rushed her straight to the vets and they believed that she had been hit by a car.
im no vet but i would get her checked out straight away because if she has been knocked by a car then she could have internal injuries.
i dont want to worry you as it could be anything but its better to be safe than sorry.
Hope ypu cat gets better soon.best wishes |

| But the thing is that my cat never goes out (his scared actually), so he couldn't be harmed by anything outside. |

Hi there to you and Jasper.
Is there any possibility that he may have eaten something he shouldn't? Things like string etc are surprisingly attractive to some cats. It could be something as simple as Gastroenteritis, but if he seems weak and so painful that he cries if you so much as touch his tummy, it could be something more serious.
He will soon start getting dehydrated from the vomiting and not eating, if he isn't already, so I really would advise that you take him to see a vet ASAP, at least if it's nothing serious the vet can reassure you and give him some medication so he feels better.

Jasper looks adorable
It can be very difficult to tell, what, if anything he might have eaten, but if he did have a foreign body, he would probably vomit repeatedly, he might also have problems passing faeces, or not pass any at all. If the vet suspects that this might be the case, he may suggest X Rays of Jasper's abdomen to check.
Another question, is he urinating normally? Some male cats are prone to crystals forming in their bladder, and the crystals can travel in the urine into the urethra and literally block the cat's bladder, preventing urination.
These are just a few ideas, it may be something different altogether of course. Good luck at the vets, keep us updated XX ____________ Georgia, Honey Bear, Rosie, Obi, Timber, Mia, Oscar and Mango XXXX

Guess what guys, my cat just ate a bit of his dry food GoCat biscuits!!!!!
We are still taking him to the vets to be on the safe side. (Maybe he's eating cause he found out he was going to go to the vets, he hates vets) |

Jasper is fine now, the veterian said he just had an upset tummy thats all. They told us if the vomitting starts again, we should take him to the vets for an examination. Jasper has been feeling better, eating and drinking today.
Thank you all!!! |
