Not sure if you can just randomly post links to websites on here. However what I will say having looked around your site is how shocked I am to your liberal way of breeding.

'Experimental breeding'.....? Rabbits are not toys nor are they something for you to do experiments with. That attitude tells me to never buy any rabbits off you as dear knows what problems the kits will have. Have you ANY idea how risky that is?

You have NO idea of the genetics
You have NO idea of the family history or what aliments they are prone to
You have NO idea of the sizes of the past generations, and as size can skip a generation, causing birthing problems, even death if the doe has large kits
Teeth deformities are likely, especially if the crossbreds are from Pets@home stock
You could produce kits that no one wants, so are you going to keep them, dump them at a rescue or cull them?

Also you say your dutch are a 'pedigree breed', not that they are pedigrees, which strongly suggests to me they are not of show standard but just any dutch you bought from a petshop. Which links in with most of the risks I highlighted about breeding crossbreeds.

Furthermore, even the RSPCA no longer recommends rabbits and guinea pigs are kept together, in fact many websites also advise against it for many, many reasons. So prehaps you would like to revise that. Wink

I am also deeply annoyed at how you tell people how to breed rabbits without any reference to buying show stock and the consideration of the kits.

Prehaps I am wrong, but you sound like the typical example of a backyard breeder, one of many who claims to love rabbits, yet is one of the main contributors to the 33,000 abandoned rabbits every year.

I know I have probably offended you, but that is not my aim here, I am trying to highlight to you how irresponsible your style of breeding is, and I sincerely hope, for the sake of your rabbits, you change. It may also be very beneficial to look on here www.rabbitrehome.uk.org to see how many rabbits there are without more being added.

I'd also like to add, that at 17, the same age as myself, I would NEVER consider breeding any animal, because I highly doubt you are finically independant or will have the time needed to dedicate to proper breeding. I don't understand why so many kids and teenagers get into breeding! Sad

yea i agree with twig. i also didnt like the way you said they want affection. surely that'd be on the needs column! Evil or Very Mad bunnies are very sociable creatures, they NEED lots of love and affection, they dont just want it! Mad and like twig said, what if no-one wants them? then what will you do? since your only 17, i presume you still live with your parents. surely they dont want any more rabbits?! i should know!
besides, crossbreeds are much cuter than pedigrees, and there's less risk of mutations and illnesses etc. take my bunny for example (yay another excuse to show him off! Laughing )

I am experimenting with crossbred rabbits plainly because of personal interest, all my rabbits are treat correctly and i devote a lot of time to them even though im "just 17". I plainly did what white and black people did years ago by crossbreeding (if you like) races to have a mixed raced baby.
I have found many things during the experimentle process such as different colours on the animals, I know what I am doing and all my litters have gone to good homes or other petshops and are all healthy up to now. I also know that most crossbred rabbits have immunities to things that pedigrees do not due to the mixed genes and also know that due to record the longest living rabbit recorded was a crossbred rabbit.

'personal interest' Rolling Eyes Well at least I know where your aims are. The fact remains you are a backyard breeder and I don't care how much your parents earn, you are still adding to the number of rabbits in rescues.

like I said I AM 17 as well, and I don't see why kids and teenagers take on breeding, rabbits live 8-12 years, prehaps you are rich enough not to further your education, but I need to get a job.

You have clearly ignored my warning about the possible consequences about cross breeding by coming of with mixed race children, totally different, but I am clearly not going to change your views.

And you can't claim they have all gone to good homes as you dumped them at a petshp, so for all you know they could have been used as dog bait or as a child's play toy then abandoned in a small hutch which is the sad fate of most rabbits.

just out of curiousity, how long have you been doing this? how many rabbits have you made? how many of them were sent to petshops? i normally stay away from them. i got twitchy from a rescue home. his mum was pregnant and the owner didnt want them. she had seven shed stuffed to the brim with rabbits. there was at least 10 hutches in each one, and each had more than 3 rabbits in it. all these rabbits had been dumped. can't you see that the world doesnt need any more rabbits from 'breeders' like you?! Evil or Very Mad

we are not accusing you of dumping them, we are just saying that there are far too many rabbits in the world for people to be "experimenting"
