Post subject: Cats sore eye ? Reply with quote

Last week Millie's right eye was looking sore the white bit was swollen up and covering her eye - she went off her food for a day then the next day she was fine.

Yesterday the same thing happened in her left eye. This morning it was back to normal.

Any ideas ? if it happens again I am going to take her to the vets.

Hiya, it sounds like protrusion of her third eyelid. Usually this tends to be a sign of general loss of condition rather than anything necessarily wrong with the eyes. Has she lost weight recently, any vomiting or diarrhoea? Has she been wormed recently? Are her pupils both the same size?
Having said that, it's important to be careful where eyes are concerned, some eye conditions can be very hard to treat, so if her eyes look watery, red, she holds one more shut than the other or if you're at all worried, I would take her to the vet. XX
