Sprollies are a very common combo actually and make wonderful companions, I love em, hyper intelligent with a willingness to please and always on the go.

ok, so if thats called a sprollie, then whats a cocker spaniel X poodle? my friend just rescued one a few weeks ago called Bailey (which they changed to Bollo because her uncles dogs called Bailey), and they've already fallen madly in love with him. we were trying to think of what it would be called. maybe a cockeroodle? ____________ Only this crazy guy can understand the true joys in playing with washing...

Sorry but it is a mongrel, or cross breed. I get very irritated by peole who "breed" mixes and by calling them something, claim that they are breeds or special in some way. I have nothing against mongrels and there are some nice dogs out there, but please don't think it is anything more than that!!! ____________ Pretty Polly Pavey of Polidot - 06/08/1996 - 13/07/2006 - Dalspa Liquid Gold for Polidot 20/10/1999 - 08/05/2007 - Polly and Polo together again |

Have to agree with spottydog as I was about to say the same. There are now so many different 'breeds' being created, and I believe 'Puggles' a cross between a beagle and pug are taking off in the USA.
I HATE the way there are new 'breeds' constantly being created as they are crossbreeds, they have no breed standard and certainly aren't recongised as a breed by kennel clubs. Yet people breed these dogs and make so much money out of them, when the last thing we need is more mongrels, theres already too many needing homes in rescues.
Don't get wrong, I have nothing against mongrels, and would rather have a mongrel than a pedigree, but from a rescue, not from a money grabbing breeder who breeds crosses. |

Well if you have a name for a type of dog ie puggles, people who want to buy them just assume. |

i dont think that mix breeds should have a name but it realy anoys me when people talk about it as being wrong to purpusly breed a mix as most of the pedagrees if you ask me should be banned due to the torturous abnormalitys alot of them have! not by accident but un purpous!
at least with a mix their is no risk of insest! and often get the best aspects of the 2 crosses and are normaly much stronger and hardyer, the only reasen you get so many mixed breeds in rescue is because they go for reasnable prices people get them with out realy thinking, when i was looking to get merlin i couldnt believe what i was seeing in the yellow frre adds the worst being a staff/alsation litter at just £40 a pup i think those pups are much more likly to be abandend than a airedale terrior that cost £900 what we realy need is for every one to have to have a licence and so people would have to be vetted before allowed to get a dog even to the point of then having that dog regesterd to you in the form of a chip so you are held fully responsable! as at the moment you could by a dog for £40 and never even see a vet once!
i realy think somthing needs to be done what do you all think?

i dont see the point in getting a pedigree, unless you want to go into shows or crufts or something. but even then ive heard that people often interbreed like brothers and sisters, just to get the 'perfect' dog, which often has problems, and mutations sometimes... most of the time, cross-breeds are cuter anyway, like my friends dog, bollo. (the cockeroodle... pleeeease let me call it that, it sounds so cool! ) ____________ Only this crazy guy can understand the true joys in playing with washing...
