| Post subject: guinea pig has something wrong with his eyes |
 |
|
Hi there
One of my rescue guineas has something odd about both eyes.
Both lower lids are slightly pulled down and a pink blob of tissue is visible just inside.
I haven't come across this before. He is a little overweight and I wondered if it is a fatty deposit? He is well otherwise. He is 2 years and has had this for a couple of months now. Is it serious?

my father has some very natrel idears one of which is to put fresh cow muck on an open wound wether that be animal or person!!
he thinks vets are all con men but due to the fact his potions and veiws are firstly not "PC" and secondly not very safe if you dont know what your doing its best to be kept in the dark!!!
beagle fan is a freind of mine so she understands!!!

oh all the time!!
i am not joking when i say if he had any open wounds he never had a tetnus or anty bacterioul cream he simply went over tothe cows and doleped some muck on top - it has to be fresh and still warm!
ill tell you what though he has had some terrable accidents once he dug hie fork in to his foot!!
but their is no scaring and it healed strait away!!
but dont you be doing it or your mum will be after me!!! |

Hiya, have you got a picture?
The most likely explanation is that as he is a bit overweight he has developed fat pads under his conjunctiva, which pushes the tissue up so it protrudes slightly. Guinea Pigs can also prolapse their third eyelids, but it is unlikely to be that if it is the same on both side.
Is it itchy or irritating him at all? Are the eyes at all red or weepy?
