Hello everyone,
It seems ages since I've been here That's the only problem with buying an old house.............all the work!! How is everyone?
The purpose of this post is that, too many of my dog owner colleagues(sp?) at work, have no idea that they can take their dog(s) to so many places in the UK and EU on holiday.
We have been taking Kips away with us 2 or 3 times a year for the last 9 years
Soooo as from next week, as we are going to Grange over Sands, I am going to make a file of the accomodation we stay in and rate it on certain criteria, i.e 'How' dog friendly, room/living accomodation, food, walks etc..
and I can then pass it on and it's up to them whether they go or not.
I have always thrown away the info. I collect on our holidays, but I'll keep it from now on.
I would appreciate any reccomendations from you guys as well. So many of these 'families' have missed out on the fun you have taking 'pups' with you. ____________ Joo, Kippa & Stan x

Not been on a campsite, but as far as I know a lot more take dogs now than they used to.
We've only been in hotels, guest houses and cottages in the past, but would love to hear recommendations for any sort of accomodation, not just for my friends but for us as well..........
I meant caravan site........................duhhhh both.. ____________ Joo, Kippa & Stan x

Then a cottage is good, but you need to ask and check, some cottages allow pets

I'd highly recommend centre parcs, they allow dogs, only problem being that the gardens aren't fenced in, so you'd have to always remember to put a lead on when they are outside, especially as theres so many ducks, squirrels, rabbits and deer outside your lodge! |

hi
the best place to camp if you have a dog and kids is walberswick camp site,
it is a field with a tap in it and you have to walk to the public toilets and no shower , so very basic but great fun we go with 4 fammilys every year 3 of us have dogs and it is the best fun -you can have camp fiers on the beach , lots of walks and dog friendly pubs and beer gardens - even better now the smoking ban has come in as we wont all be smoked out while eating fish and chips1!!
and the best bit is that it is only £5 a nigt for small tents, £9 a night for medium and £12 a night for large tents so it is a realy cheap fun holiday!
by the way walberswick is just next to southwold in suffolk and dogs are alowed on beaches all year round!!
to be sure of a site it is best to book but their are casuel spots for one night stays how ever we go for 5 days as it is the best holiday in the world.

We're just back from 2 weeks in Northumbria with Meg - it was fantastic. We stayed in a cottage, totally dog-friendly. Great walks on several fantastic beaches, with very few restrictions other than those that any responsible dog-owner would impose on a well-mannered dog.
Even the weather was ok - not great, but ok. We missed most of the big downpours (though got one real soaking on Bamburgh beach - water literally dripping out of trousers!) But it was just a good excuse to visit local hostelry for drink and chance to use their loos to change into dry trousers....
Try links across to www.dogfriendlybritain.co.uk. They have lots of ideas, both in the general website, and in the forum, for places to visit that are dog-friendly. |

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am keeping note of your recs.
We are off tomorrow for the weekend, to try out the hotel in Grange over sands. Got the wellies and waterproofs packed
We picked this particular one as it had a ground floor room opening out into the gardens.
Kips can't get up stairs very well now and OH is too old to carry her up ( hope he doesn't read this )
Will let you know what it's like. ____________ Joo, Kippa & Stan x

| WE have stayed in one of their cottages every year for about the past 10 years. Never any problems about dog-friendliness in the dog-welcome ones. You just need to check because some will have the "dog welcome" icon, but may have restrictions about the number, or the size of the dog... |
