The caption says "Octo" lamb. Then they go on to say it has seven legs. Octo refers to EIGHT not seven so they can't even report it properly.
Poor thing should not have been born and certainly not been made an exhibition of!

how do you know it is in pain?
i think if we had of had a lamb like that and it seemed fine we would of just wached it and made sure it was acting like all the others. - my father hates putting an animal down as he thinks its not natrel - unless it is corsing consern for other animals!
my friend once took a chick with one leg to the vets and he said to have her put down but dad said to them to see how it goes and the chick was fine!!!
lived ages and even layed eggs!!!!
and i would of gon to the papers as it is of intrest and people dont just want to read about murders etc |

I'd give any animal a fair crack of the whip but they still need to be treated with dignity not paraded about and the truth of the matter is that this animal was bred for meat so it hasn't got any sort of 'life' ahead, it's going to be eaten. However, the picture doesn't show that the lamb can cope, it's not even lying very comfortably and looks very dirty, a 6 day old lamb should be quite white.

if it did live then yes, but i think it will be putdown as like beckyes says it doesnt look great - and so if it was killed now then no one would eat it as their wouldnt be the meat , but i cant see why the lamb would care if it was being looked at so i wouldnt worry about photographers etc but although my father wouldnt of put the lamb down at birth - as he would want to see how the lamb coped , i think he would of done before now!!!
i know you think as the animal was bred for food it wasnt going to have a great quality of life but you would be suprised the fun some of the lambs have - i use to have a pet lamb and we had great fun but we still ate her as that was her purpose in life. |

I respect that you can actually kill your food and eat it, unlike many hypocrites who couldn't yet still eat meat pretending its off a tree, but in regards to the deformed lamb I do think that lamb should have just been killed because if it had been born in the wild, it would have been killed within the hour of being born. |

yes it would of been killed quickly if it was in the wild - but it wasnt!!
lots of animals would die in the wild like a litter of pups when the dam dies but it dosent mean you shouldnt bottle feed the pups or when we had cold springs and we would take in the day old chicks and put them in socks by the fier - they would die but as they are cared for by man they have a much better chance of sevivel. |

but we shouldn't preserve life at any cost. Quality of life is far more important to me. I doubt this lamb has any quality of life.

but i dont feel that it is are right to presume that,
forexample when gypsie was put down i new she was in pain she was not herself, she would just wimper, she weed and pooed herself, had fits , couldnt understand any comands - she simply was not gypsie any more .
im not saying i wouldnt put the lamb down what im saying is i wouldnt just because she was born abnormaly i would want to see how she was with the condition first. |

In a domestic pet then yes I'd agree with you but in farm livestock then no. They are bred for meat, they aren't pampered like our pets, I'm not saying they aren't cared for but it's different.
