hi
firstly i would like to agree with spotty dog,
can i also add that im afraid if you dont want to take part in any thing where by animals are killed un nessasarily etc then you cant eat or drink milk, honey, eggs meat where leather - the list could go on!!!
then i would also like to point out that you can still eat meat with out contributing to this so called cruelty- i dont agree with killing any animal un nessasarily but you must remember that diffrent breeds of animal are used for diffrent things like eating/ milk/eggs etc
how ever my father would take chicks and gosslings who were male from farmers who wanted laying birds which we would then fatten up and eat. this worked very well for us all!
if you would like to enjoy the odd bit of meat but dont like the idea of the way most animals are farmed why dont you find a private small holder (this is like my father use to have, where you hold down a normal job but you have a few acers of land in which you are selfsuffishent by eating your own produce and selling produce to pay for the animals food beddingetc and using the manure for your veg you could also look in to local hunters who shoot pheasent pigion and the likes or rabbits - these all have a good loife and are killed as nature intended it.
if your sitting their thinking i dont know how to find these meat / egg sourses then i will try to find you some where local to you it may mean poping on a bus or train but it would be a fun day out and often you buy half a pig at a time or what ever so you wouldnt have to worry about traveling very often.
farmers markets can be a good place to start looking but make sure they will alow you to see their farm(no one ever bothers so the odd one that does should be welcomed!)
can i also add that no one should feel bad about the way the animals you eat are treated as the animals dont know any thing diffrent.
love coliel
ps sorry for long reply but i do love this kind of discusion!!!!
