Hello people. I am new to this site and just wanted to say "hi".
I have just bought some ducks, I have had chickens for a while and now they have a nice new pen, I thought I would get them some nice new friends.
I have been looking for some people to chat to about my ducks and chickens but I am struggling to know where to go!
If anyone knows any good sites to read or chat on please let me know. Of course if you know anything about ducks or chickens yourself it would be great to hear from you. |

Hi all
Not really sure on the mating season thing Heather. I guess the drakes would chase the ducks though. Pretty sure they are the same as most birds and like to do the whole showing off thing.
My ducks are only young at the moment and I am not sure if I have ducks or drakes. I will have to wait and see on that.
I don't know much about them at the moment. I need to learn more. That's why I am trying to find good sites or people who know more than me.
My chooks seem to have accepted the ducks fine and just get on as they did before. My dogs are still a tad bewildered by them though. |

Your hens will be fine with your ducks, they ignore ducks.

I'm afraid don't know much about chickens or ducks either, but wanted to say welcome anyway!
We did have a duckling once that came into the vets where I work with a broken leg, we splinted his break and kept him at home until he was healed up, then released him at a local reservoir. We called him Wonky
Have you got any picture's of your birds to show us?

I only have a few pics of my ducks at the mo. I took them one morning before I went to work to show the girls I work with. I will have a go at posting them though. I really must take some more!
I have a few pic of my chooks though.
I have only had my ducks a few days so they are still quite wary of us.
I don't have any cockrels they are a bit too noisy. Not sure my neighbours would appreciate it! They are ok with the hens though.
I will give the pics a try now! |
