Well yesterdays vet visit wasn't that productive. We saw a different vet and she suggested an allergy to flea saliva and then told me she doesn't have fleas hhmmmm a passing flea spat on her? Or it may be stress from being a housecat - like parrots pluck their own feathers Isis is pulling her fur out - the vet made me feel it was my fault or lastly she may be hyperthyroid - it seems the test she has to begin with wasn't definitive - a T3 test? to be sure she needs a T4. So to be going on with she has had another steroid injection of Depo Medrone and another appointment in 4 weeks - sooner if she gets worse or no better. It so frustrating.
Anyway, rant over xx

Sorry to hear that your vet still hasn't shed any light on what the problem is. I can't understand why your vet ran a T3 test on her, this test is pretty much useless on it's own and no where near as reliable as a T4 test, which is generally accurate and easily run, if not in house then at an external lab. Did you ask why the incorrect test was done? Make sure they haven't charged you!
Also, it drives me up the wall how some vets feel the need to medicate a non existant illness. Imagine going to the doctor and him saying "well, I don't know what's wrong with you, or if anything even is, but here, have some steroids anyway".
I'd be looking at changing vets if I was you!
It seems unlikely that Isis' problem is due to her being a house cat, especially since she's always been kept inside since she was young. In case it is, make sure she has lots of interactive toys to play with and loads of attention, although I'm sure she gets that anyway.
Please keep us updated on how she gets on, and do you have any pics of her to show us?

It was isis' follow up appointment after the steroid injection and flea treatment a month ago. I have to say she has been happier and more sociable but she is still balding with no sign of regrowth. She had her neck shaved 8 weeks ago for a blood test and that hasn't grown back, she has no undercoat at all and big bald patches on her belly and legs and her tail that was once very squirrel like looks ratty . Anyway to cut a long moan short, the vet has now decided to do the T4 test - I shall not be happy if she does have hyperthyroidism - which I suggested over 8 weeks ago to the vet. I now have to wait a week for the results.
I have a funny story that isn't cat related but thought you might find amusing. I have a guinea pig called Fred, who lives outside and last week I thought he looked a bit off colour, so I got him out of his hutch and gave him the once over and discovered his genitals were on show, I kept checking him through out the day and he stayed the same - so I made a vets appointment after doing a bit of research and discovering guinea pigs are prone to infections in that area. My son took him to the vet and this is where it gets embarrassing, the vet gave him a cold bath and he was fine (£15 for a cold shower!!)
