hi
good idear to have your boy stay away for the night !!!!
i thought all rescue dogs were castrated before being rehomed ?
where did you get your dog from as you have also got a young child and i have a friend who would like to take on a rescue but she has lost hope as they all have rules about children and as she has got 2 children who are 18 months and 3 years they keep being told no,
she has a nice home and garden and she is at home so its a shame.

I got Diesel from Sunnyside kennels which is in wolverhampton ( west midlands) its in partnership with Birmingham dogs home. They are very good with rehoming dogs with children. All the dogs are closely monitored to ensure that they are rehomed to the right people. We were reasurred by them that Diesel would be fine to be around small children and we took him out to the exercise yard with my son for a while to see how we felt. Im pleased to say that he has never posed a threat to my son although he can be like a ball in a china shop sometimes lol Laughing

I have heard about many people who struggle to get a rescue dog because they have small children which is a shame but then again i suppose they are just thinking about the dogs best interests.

Before we had Diesel i was intending on getting a border collie pup as i have grown up with many over the past 22 years and love them Very Happy I rang a small rescue that were full with border collies many were puppies and she was fine until i said a had a young child. It was rather frustrating at the time but now i have my big dopey dog and i couldnt be happier Very Happy

hi
that is dredful that they dont castrate or spay!!!
i always thought all rescues did as a matter of course!
good thing though that they home to fammilys with kids as the bond between a dog and child is fantastic although i must admit you do have to be care full as you dont always know the past of each dog.

Firstly, thinking of you an Diesel today, I am sure it will all go well and hope he has a speedy recovery!

Each rescue has its own neutering policy, some will neuter or spay as a part of its policy, others that are perhaps smaller wiht less income will ask the prospective home to get it done and provide proof.

As far as rehoming to people with chldren, I homecheck for many rescues and again, policies vary from rescue to rescue, there are many that will rehome dogs to people with young families.

We picked Diesel up at 4pm today and he is doing well. He is very groggy and hasnt braved having a wee yet lol. He has just tucked into some chicken which he seemed to love.

He has a lovely way of making me feel guilty when he looks at me with his sad face Sad When he is feeling better he has a new toy and a bone to make up for his discomfort Very Happy

The vet said he was very well behaved so im very proud of my lovely boy Very Happy
