Hi i think my rabbit may have myxomatosis, how can i know for sure?
i cant take him to the vets because my mum says he's got flew (he has all the signs of the Acute form of myxomatosis).
Is there a way i can know for certain without taking it to a vet???
and can i catch it? Sad

He will have somekind of patches on his skin, i think the rabbits behaviour will be different so you need to take it to the vets asap

Don't want to sound nasty or scare you, but if you don't take him now, as in TODAY chances are high he will die, he needs vaccinated now and will need intensive nursing. Even with the vacc he may well die, please get him checked out by phoning the vets now and booking an appointment for this evening, no excuses. To let him suffer with myxi would be totally inhumane and is illegal as set out by the RSPCA. Myxi is very quick, and kills in a matter of days.

Also, rabbits don't get flu, so if he has a runny nose, its more likely to be snuffles or pneumonia, both of which also need IMMEDIATE veternary attention.

Good luck at the vets, hope its not myxi! Sad
