Post subject: What should i do? Reply with quote

Hi, I just went outside and noticed that my cheeky little rabbit was nibbleing at the wood on his hutch. Is there any advice you can give me on what do to stop him from doing this. Thanks.

Perhaps a 'Hannibal' style muzzle as suggested for Timber in the thread about him bringing in a mouse? Laughing Cool

I wish I could suggest something, my female rabbit has destroyed the inside of her hutch...has completely done away with the bedroom partition....she even managed to eat part of the front of the hutch away so the door came open. I have had to put latches on the outside of the doors to stop her getting out. Sad

Its natural instinct unfortunately Confused and my shed would have been long demolished if my dad hadn't chew proofed the edges with a metal grill type thing. Laughing Laughing

Have they got plenty of fresh hay? Hay should be greenish and sweet smelling, and if you buy from a petshop, chances are its dry, brown and tasteless. You could try and buy a bale for a few quid at a horse feed centre or order online. ALso, chew toys like untreated willow may help deter them.

In the piccie below you can see the chew proofing my shed has (silver bit), you can buy it at most DIY shops, not sure if it work in hutches though...

You can get wooden arches from most pet stores. I use these and they love them my hutch doesn't get any punishment anymore lol.
