He will eat out of my hand but when i stick my finger in his cage he just walks off. I really want to start letting him out and want to be able to catch him when its time to go back in. I have a Hahns Macaw and I have never taught him to step-up, simply because he usually stays on me, and steps up automatically when I place a hand or stick to his belly. You could alway put your hand between the bird and a treat, so that the bird has to step onto the hand to get the treat.
