Post subject: They say he has a tumor. Reply with quote

Hi.

My name is Vicky & I just joined the site, hoping for support.

Since the end of last year, my Russian Dwarf hamster Charlie has had a lump. It went down but came back up and looks angry. So today I forced myself to the vets and me & my fiance sat waiting. We walked and I prayed it was nothing, she tried to check if it was a absess...But found no puss. she is now saying my baby has a tumor, and I am trying to find somewhere to prove her wrong. The vet is not very good & her work partner a couple of years ago told me my old hamster had exma when it turned out to just be his legs rubbing on his wheel...

I feel numb and I wanna cry but..I feel too bad and guilty for keeping hi malive, he doesn't seem to be in pain...

Hi and welcome.
I'm sorry to hear that your hamster isn't well
I would second what Annestaff says, and get a second opinion. Many vets deal mainly with dogs and cats etc and don't necessarily know alot about hamsters, so it would be worth trying to find a vet with relevant experience with more 'exotic' pets.
Did the vet suggest any treatment?
I wish you and Charlie all the best

Thank you all so much.

My mother spoke to her friend (a animal lover - extreme - ) She was shocked to hear that they ripped the scab off and caused him a lot of pain. She spoke of another vet who she said was excellent. So she is taking us down there on Tuesday after college because I wanna be there for him.

Yesterday I fussed him like there was no tomorrow and took photos of his royal cuteness hehe.

When I get home I could download them on here so you can all see why I fell in love with him. I'll hopefully upload the picture of my 8 year old jack russell too as she is a real poser!

Thanks again.

For some reason, I do not feel so alone - Silly eh?

Glad to hear that you are going to see another vet, at least you will now you've done everything you can, and the other vet may have more ideas about treatment options.
We would love to see some pics of your pets Very Happy
I hope the news is good on tuesday!
