Thought an update was due for Roland if anyone is interested...he's the rescue rattie I got just over a week ago who I'm introducing slowly to my girls, and hopefully soon will be living with my tow girls in thier massive cage.

The introductions are continuing at a steady pace, all the rats are very interested in each other, but there are still too many signs of aggression shown for me to house them together yet. Kitty, alpha female of the two girls, just won't leave poor Roland alone! She is so excited bless her, and so wanting to be top rat she follows him around waiting for a chance to pounce on him and pin him down to show her dominance. These two often have a tussle but Roland gets grumpy quickly and has given her a warning nip which just pinched the skin. No blood but a little tuft of fur fell out, not that you can notice, and not that Kitty seemed to notice!

Meanwhile, Maya, the submissive female, creeps up to Roland and squeaks at him all the time, this is telling him she is submissive to him. However, he does take advantage of this and has lunged at her, accidentally scratching her skin. They do a sort of stare out thing quite a bit.

Roland is a bit of a grumpy old man sometimes, but he will sit still when he's out of my room (my room being shared territory with the girls and the place he free ranges so he knows it off by heart). He is lovely and not the least bit afraid of people.

Other than that, his castration swelling has finally burst (sorry to be gross) so if the little man will let, a few days of saline solution wiping where his man-bits used to be are in order! Hope he forgives me! But he won't stay still so I'm not sure how I'm going to tackle it!
