| Post subject: Help with a cat flap and a crafty cat! |

Hi
We had a cat flap fitted years and years ago, but some local toms kept coming in and eating my cats food and spraying in my house. We currently have 2 neutered female cats who are scared of their own shadow, let alone other cats (they are relitivly old though, 12 and 15). Anyway, we decided to get a Staywell magnetic cat flap to stop the local toms (none have collars, but are owned) making our house stink! All was well until we came into the lounge on Wednesday morning. It stunk of cat wee. Then last night we caught a cat smacking the cat flap repeatedly until the flap bounced off the magnet, he then hooks his paw under the flap and pulls it open.
Is that any flaps that will stop this cat from doing it? Or any other suggestions (hav e contemplated putting a note round its neck saying if i caught it in my house again then its getting neutered! Its already cost me approx £100 in replacing the cat flap and cleaning/replacing furniture it has sprayed!) |

| my mum and dad have had problems with a cat coming into their house,mum has a water gun by her side at all times and will spray the cats if she see's it. maybe thats a tad cruel,but the problem they also have is that cat is quite nasty,he has attacked my mum a coupe of times. If you can catch this cat and find out where he lives id write a note,or even take it back to the owners and complain. I always thought those magnetic cat flaps were good,i know my mum and dad want to get one |

We have trapped it inside a few times btu changing the settings. It allowed the cat to get in, but was stuck once inside. We then squirted it with water and told it off, then let it go. This worked for a couple of weeks and then it would be back.
Its been in again while we were out. Perhaps we need a tom cat to scare it away. |

| I guess you could get a tom cat and maybe that would keep this other cat away,but what would be the chances of the cats fighting? i dont think id like that in my house |

But they wouldnt fight because we got a tom then he'll be neutered. But the problem with my females is that they let other cats come in. We have caught them curled up on the sofa with my females watching them from afar. so i'm hoping that a younger cat wouldn't be such a wuss.  |
