| Post subject: Spastic Cat? |
 |
|
I always knew my little Felix was "special" but have just found out how special he really is. Unfortunately he really is spastic or CH to be correct - I just love this little kitten to bits and have disregarded all the things that I have been told about looking after a CH cat.
Yes he does lick windows - and doors, shoes, stones, the bath and anything else he can lay his tongue on. He is crosseyed but thats not the end of the world; he can be a house cat if he wants or sorting a secure outdoor area for him.
He does look really strange at the moment as his front legs are a lot shorter than his back legs but he walks fine - he does need to lean on walls etc but that isn't a problem. He can't make the litter tray unfortunately but apparently this is really common with cats with CH.
Its really funny to see him as he can't miaow yet (aged 5 months) he bleets .... honest he sounds like a sheep.
I luv this little scamp to absolute pieces and have researched his condition as much as I can - I know he will always be small, have co-ordination probs, never house train etc but have also been told about some of the other asociated problems like the no fear thing - he has none and he doesn't appear to feel pain?
Does anyone else on here have a CH cat? Or should I keep an ongoing post about his progress to teach others.
The harsh thing is the vet told me over 90% of owners with a CH cat have it put down even though they can live a full and long life. some people just can't be bothered apparently.
This kitty is going no where ............. I love him to bits; the big cats look after him; they wash him, push him towards food bowls etc.
I'm really just looking for advice as to ways of making his life easier if anyone can help please x |

| Thanks but it's not really bad news is it? He is still as loved as he always was - probably more seeing as he has problems. He is actually quite amusing, and so so loving. |

aww poor kitty, its great hes got such a good home its a shame so many people put CH cats to sleep but i can understand as some people may find it heartbreaking when they can see there cat wants to do something but its body wont do it so they probably think its too distressing to watch, i wouldnt put a cat down though who i thought could live a long and happy life, good for you for giving him a chance in life ____________

Didn't take it that way Clareabella - honest!
Felix aged now 5 months reached a huge milestone for him today ....... he wee'd in the litter tray I know that TT and Splodge were going that 4 months ago but this is a great achievement for him.
He has grown slightly as well he now measures 12cm from floor to shoulder (TT - TicTac .... 22cm brothers lolX)
Bless him he got really confused earlier tonight as he was chasing a moth around the kitchen and kept pouncing an inch or so off target - but he did get him in the end lol x defo more by luck than judgement.
As for putting a CH cat down? NEVER!!!! This lil kitty is so so loved it is unreal. Bear in mind I have another 8 great soppy furry purries - I could never ever replace this lil baby he really is one in a million and I really do love him to absolute bits. The older cats look after him. It's really cute at feeding time as Felix has probs standing upright without leaning on something; one of the big cats always gets next to him to let him lean into them. I think the other cats know there is something different about him but they love him as well.
Ih talk of the Devil - having trouble typing as a certain lil kitty has decided that my hands could be put to better use and that my mouse is his prey x thinks that me saying nite nite x |
