Post subject: Lovebirds, over zealous male, any suggestions please Reply with quote

hello, i have a pair of lovebirds approx 5 years old,in the last few months, the male has been displaying mating behaviour towards the female, the problem is he is for want of a better word over zealous with his attention to her, although it is sweet to see him feeding her, he is constantly preening her it has got to the point she is going bald on the back of the head, i don't think the feathers will grow back i am thinking about seperating them to give her a break, but i am worried this would cause them stress as they are a devoted pair other than these contant rituals they are in good health, does any one have any advice please
