Post subject: Teeth cleaning Reply with quote

Just wondered how or if you cleaned your pets teeth. I must admit to being quite fussy about my dogs teeth after Cassy broke a tooth and the vet told me how much dental work costs Shocked I clean my dogs teeth every other day now and their all fine about it and don't make a fuss at all.

The vet commented on the great condition of their teeth until I told her I use Colgate mild mint on them and then I got a lecture about how I should only use doggie tooth paste Rolling Eyes

i tend to give wilson a bone to help keep his plaque down, they always look nice and white. plus he only eats dried food and it is wet food that causes more problems. plus even though i think his breath stinks our vet said he had lovely smelling breath ( she needs to get out more often)

I've been worrying about Kidden's teeth and gums - I've seen her chewing awkwardly and rubbing at her mouth at times and her breath compared to my other two cats smells rather vile. She won't let me get a good look into her mouth to check - A trip to the vet is definitely on the cards.

I have attempted it a few times with colgate too Wink

Sasha is on a dried diet so that should help but i don't think i would be able to brush the cats teeth although i keep saying i will give it a go.

We give our dogs greenies to chew and it cleans their teeth at the same time, we also brush their teeth with tea tree oil toothpaste and use a finger brush, theyre great you can just pop it on your finger and do it that way, and they dont seem to mind it, although i think they prefer the greenies better because its a treat at the same time.
