Hello Everyone,
Thought it might be interesting to find out why everyone chose their pet or pets...
We have a gorgeous labrador - as we wanted companionship, a loyal friend & someone to share our love of the outdoors with. We also wanted a pet we could cuddle and give lots of love to - which he returns without even being asked, he's always by our side.
Growing up as a child we always had birds - budgies, cockateils, lovebirds etc., one day we would love to have a parrot! (I'll make do with my hubby for now! lol)
What were your reasons for choosing your pet or pets?

I really don't know. I grew up with so many pets it just seems natural to have animals around the place.
I can't live without cats, although two of mine arrived at only 4 weeks old when their Mother had been run over and killed. I agree to hand rear them until they were ready to go, but five years later they are still with me...asleep on my bed as I type .
One of my dogs arrived home after a trip to a pet shop to get cat food, revealed a very sick looking puppy, riddled with worms. I just couldn't turn my back on her, so I gave the man a Tenner and took her home, where she lived with me until the bitter end. My old dog Tara was another pathetic case I found in a rescue centre, she also had to come home with me and nearly 13 years later is still here. My rabbits come from a rescue centre also. My GP's were a present from a friend who knew I loved her GP's, so got me two of my own .
I'm a volunteer for Guide Dogs too, so I have a Lab cross puppy with me at the moment, which I am socialising for them.
I've fostered dogs, hand reared baby bunnies, kittens and baby birds. I even had an injured bat for a while, although that was taken over by the appropriate people as they are very specialized.
I've owned horses and looked after other peoples horses and ponies.
In total, my life and my familys life revolves around animals and that's the way we like it. They enrich our world so much .

Lucy we chose because we had always wanted a chocolate lab if we were to get one and we did!!
Lillie we chose because she was soo cute and Lottie needed a friend to squeak to
Eric/a we chose as we had always wanted a parrot and she is beautiful and very colourful.
The fish were chose because they were needed to fill the pond and so we could give them a good home.
I agree Jules i have always grown up with animals and intend to bring up any children i have in the same way. I couldn't imagine not having animals, they are wonderful.
from dogs to cats, horses to hamsters they are all great. ____________ Linzi |

In 2004 i asked if i could get a puppy and i was surpised that my dad even agreed to it, he knows i want a collie but id prefer a working collie. I wanted a yellow labordor but i was'nt allowed a big dog so i had to make do with a little one.
The dog is maddy a very intelligant Jack Russell 2 who would be good at ratting plus i rather have dogs than children im afraid.
