Post subject: cat rescue help Reply with quote

I need some quick advice peeps regarding a cat that will be landing on my doorstep tomorrow she is a long haired neutered tabby havent a clue how old problem i have is i can't possibly keep her as i have 2 cats a kitten a rottweiler plus a hamster and fish.

She is a friend of my daughters cat that is in need of medical treatment not sure how bad until i see her tomorrow she is living outside as the owner doesnt allow her in the house and isnt supposed to be fed properly thats why i told my daughter to go and fetch it basically as over the last week i have had my daughter tell me that she needed to see a vet and that the owner can't afford it so i told her to go back and tell this stupid woman she can always take her along to the P.D.S.A for treament for a small donation and the owner has refused and asked me to take it in.

I want to find her a loving home but dont know where to turn next should i phone P.D.S.A, R.S.P.C.A or i was thinking of the cats protection league.

I am in the West Midlands if anybody has any advice for me or knows of a good home for her please let me know.

I don't really know anything about cat rescues, but any of those you have mentioned are sure to find the cat a good home.

Here are some rescues in your area

What a shame but at least the cat will find a home. Smile

Thankyou lou that site is really useful Wink

I'll be sure to give her a lot of loving a bed to have a snooze on and a decent meal before she goes.

I forgot all about not updating you guys on this cat so here goes.

I was all looking forward to seeing him/her when my daughters friend came knocking on my door to tell me her mom had now decided to keep the cat but feeling wary decided to go and have a word myself as i was starting to think my daughter had made it all up lol.

It turns out that the owner was uneducated about fleas etc and so after explaining that the pdsa would help treat it for a small fee and that if left untreated would result in anaemia for the cat and flea bites for all the family she promised to take it and it wasnt being left outside like my daughter had told me Embarassed

Whilst there i saw the cat and she looked fine so in the future i wont be listening to my daughter i think she thinks all cats outside of our house are all unhappy and need to be rescued Laughing

Oh dear Laughing ...Your daughter sounds like me when I was little. I was always rescuing things and taking them home, only to have my Mum have to take them back to the owners later Rolling Eyes .

My Mum was never particularly pleased if I bought in wildlife though (she always worried about fleas, mites, ticks etc).....She had a fear of birds too, so if I rescued one of them I would have to hide it in the shed until it was better, then release it, without her knowing.....and you should have seen her face when I bought home slow worm Shocked Laughing Laughing Laughing . I thought it had gone blind because it's eyes were all cloudy, when actually it was just about to shed it's skin....My Mum thought it was a snake and had the screaming ab dabs all round the house. Shocked Laughing Laughing

Funnily enough I still seem to be patching things up and then releasing them even now.... Wink

Lol kids eh i have to say i'm quite proud that she takes an interest in animals welfare but she does have a habit of overeacting when it comes to animals.

She often tells me that the cat walking down the street is stray as she has seen it loads and i have to remind her that our cats are always walking down the street greeting people but they arent stray. Laughing

I used to be a bit like you aswell regarding rescuing animals routemarcher when i was a child me and my friend rescued an injured pigeon that we placed in my moms bath with a blanket until we had traced the owner can't remember what my mom said but i bet she was thrilled lol.
